South Island – Queenstown in Rain

We arrived in Queenstown on a wet and cold day. We walked around the town a bit with Joanne who was looking for a hostel to spend her last night at before heading home to Singapore.

We decided after three weeks of being on the move, we deserved a down day. After lunch we got in our bed and napped, read and enjoyed the views from our hotel room.

We woke up to another gloomy day but at least it wasn’t raining as much. What do you do on a rainy day in Queenstown? Go on a wine tour. We signed up with Altitude tours for a twilight tour. They took seven of us to three different places for tastings. Fun afternoon. Met a thirty something couple from Finland who were taking a one year sabbatical from their professional jobs – house sitting, traveling and doing online studies to further their careers. They had bought a car for the 7 months in NZ and just sold it today for $900. They will go home to their jobs they left a year ago.
