Scandinavia 2015 – Day 7 Copenhagen

Copenhagen day and overnight ferry to Oslo
June 11

Walking day. Had to check out the pedestrian shopping street of Stroget. Mostly big name national stores…nothing impressive. Except that it is the first pedestrian shopping street in modern Europe…said our guide earlier in the week. Found a little shop to buy a piece of Baltic amber jewelry. Doesn’t take any luggage space and will be used. Amber is petrified resin.

Popped into the National Museum and took a guided tour to see the museum highlights. We bounced around from pre historic finds to middle ages to modern times, all from the history of Denmark.

Found our way to the ship to take us to Oslo. I am very good about planning big pieces of the trip but things unravel a bit at the edges…like how we get to our hotel from a train station or how to get to the boat from the apartment. Especially when we say no taxis…all part of the game. After a late night internet session I found a cruise bus to take us from town to the terminal. But I had to send an email to get the unmarked address of the bus stop. The ship was perfect, not fancy but comfortable.

Everytime we change countries we have to spend whats left of our money. 4 countries and four currencies… Swedish change went to wine and chocolate on the train. Danish Kroner to tip server on the boat.

Dinner and breakfast were included and we arrived around 9:45am in Oslo after a beautiful morning passage through the fjords…looks like San Juan Islands in Washington.

Love this picture…To Oslo Norway.
