Scandinavia 2015 – Day 4

Stockholm to Copenhagen – June 8

Monday was a travel day from Stockholm to Copenhagen by train. We hoped to meet up with Bonnie, Barb and Les at the Copenhagen train station. I love taking trains in Europe. I had booked two window seats with a table for the 5 hour ride. Had time to sleep, read and write and watch scenery.

By texting, I was able to tell Bonnie to get tickets for our train when it stopped in Malmo. They had spent three days in rural Sweden, including meeting up with some Swedish relatives of Les’s mother. When we pulled into Malmo I went flying off the train to make sure they boarded our car. There they were sitting on a bench wondering if this wax the right train.

In Copenhagen we were able to figure out how to get to our Airbnb house and meet the owners to get keys. Technology is so amazing. Used Google Maps to figure out what bus to take and where to walk to find the house. Then texted owners son who rode over on his bike from work. The apartment was in a house built in ghe 1600s. It was three levels, each with a simple bedroom and bathroom and lots of windows looking into a community yard/gardens. The front of the house where the owners live faces a canal. We werei the Christianhavn neighborhood, close to a bakery, grocery and public transportation.

We chose a lakefront restaurant recommended by Rick Steves called Ravelina. Ambiance was nice but service was poor and food mediocre. Took a hour to serve dinner and we were only one of three tables.
