Originally I had big plans for all the Athens museums I was going to visit on this trip but that didn’t happen. On our last day in Athens, we split up into two groups to explore the Plaka and do some shopping. Julie and Ann scored on some great costume jewelry. I went back to market area to buy spices from the shop used by the locals. It was a nice day – windy and comfortable temps. A month later this walk would have been quite uncomfortable.
In the evening we had hired a van and driver for an excursion to Cape Sounion to see the sunset from the Temple of Poseidon. Lovely long ride along the coastal road, spent about an hour at the temple and then lamb dinner in Kaylyva and home by 11.30 to pack for next leg of the trip. Burke is leaving us tomorrow so we can eat less meat – he is a meat eater for sure! Lamb and more lamb.
Athens was fun, apartment superb and the company a pleasure.
