Day 14 – Rest up in Crete

Today was a day to relax and stay close to home. Julie/Burke  & Barb/Les are staying the the guest house a block or so down the village. Bill and I are at the main house in Yianni’s bedroom upstairs. Everyone loved staying in the village, Archontiki.

We went down to the beach to swim after exploring the ancient town of Lappa which is now a Greek village Argiropolis. We went into a family owned folk life museum – a fat little 10 year old gave us the tour in Greek of the families collection of treasures. It was actually a pretty good museum.

When we got back after stopping at the grocery store, Monika and Howie, Gina and Fr. Sean were waiting in the back yard of Yiannis house. It was a coincidence that they were in Crete the same time as our trip. Monika and Howie have been coming to Crete almost every year since 2002 when she and I and my kids travelled to Athens, Crete, Santorini, Paris and Heidelburg.

We caught up while Yiannis cooked a nice dinner for us. As usual, we enjoyed watching the sunset over the valley behind the house.
