Salina – Lingua Walk & Boat Excursion

I woke up early to see the beautiful sunrise and it did not disappoint.

Linda and Lorrie took the ferry to Vulcano island to climb the volcano. I opted out and instead walked from Santa Marina to village of Lingua, about 2 miles along road overlooking the sea. It was a lovely walk with sea views the entire way.

Lingua has a promenade along the seaside with several restaurants. I had thought I might swim but the beach has big stones and I didn’t want to venture out alone. So I just put my feet in the water to check water temps – cool. I had lunch at Da Alfredo known for its Pani Cunzato, a Sicilian dish they are known for. Basically a caprese salad on bread.

We were able to organise an afternoon boat ride around the island with Salina Excursions (www.salinaexcursions.it). They offered a private tour if we were willing to pay for four people (at 30euros each). It turned out to be just Lorrie and I as Linda wasn’t feeling great and some Polish “instagrammer” girls. The boat ride was about 3 hours with stops in three lovely swim stops. I enjoyed seeing Pollara beach from the water after hiking there the other day at the top

The other two passengers on the boat were two twenty something girls from Poland who spent the entire three hours showing off their string bikinis and taking pictures of themselves. We and the captain got lots of views of their bottoms. I am not sure they even knew where we were. That didn’t matter. Only the selfie mattered.

Enjoyed a dinner on our veranda watching the almost full moon rise over the sea.
